Frequently Asked Questions
What can Invisalign do for me?
Invisalign is not just for "straightening teeth", there are many benefits to Invisalign which include:
-
Properly align teeth by correcting crowded teeth or closing spaces between teeth.
-
Can easily improve crossbites, overbites, and underbites.
-
Prevents teeth from cracking or chipping by correcting the bite.
-
Greatly improves gum health.
Why is Invisalign better than metal braces?
Although traditional metal braces have been used for decades to align teeth, there have been very little improvements in the treatment itself. While there are a few cases that clear aligner therapy (Invisalign) cannot treat, about 99% of cases can be treated using Invislaign. There are a few advantages to using Invisalign over metal braces.
-
Appearance: Metal braces are very noticeable while Invisalign is discreet and often cannot be seen even while they are on your teeth.
-
Cleanliness: Metal braces make it difficult to clean between your teeth. A special type of floss is required to clean between teeth, which is much more difficult and time consuming to use than regular floss, and often leads people to give up on flossing completely. Invisalign can be removed while brushing and flossing to make cleaning your teeth easy.
-
Comfort: Metal braces require a "tightening" every so often, which makes the teeth very sensitive and the gums very sore. Invisalign creates multiple aligners that are usually worn for 1 week at a time. Each new aligner makes predictable, minor movements to prevent the sensitivity and soreness many people feel with metal braces, and therefore are much more comfortable to wear.
-
Less Cavities: Metal braces often cause food to get stuck between teeth or underneath the gums, and that bacterial growth can lead to a higher amount of cavities or gum disease during treatment. Invisalign does not have this issue. It is much easier to keep your teeth clean with Invisalign as there is no metal wire which often prevents proper flossing habits.
How much does Invisalign cost?
This depends on the complexity of the case. Treatment ranges from $3,500-$5,500 depending on several factors including how many trays you will need, and how long your Invisalign treatment is expected to take. This will be discussed with you after your initial free consultation, and once Invisalign has received your models and pictures of your teeth.
Is Invisalign covered by insurance?
Many insurances do have orthodontics coverage. Prior to starting treatment we will find out for you if your insurance covers Invisalign and how much they will cover.
Do you offer a payment plan?
Yes we do! You will never have to pay for the full cost upfront. We offer multiple payment options, with the most common one being a 12 month payment plan that will be split evenly with no deposit and no interest. For example, if your treatment is $4,500 you will have the option of paying $375 per month over 12 months. We do often offer incentives for paying in full if you choose. We also offer a payment plan option even if you have insurance coverage to cover part of the cost!
How long is the treatment?
This depends on the complexity of your case. We have completed treatment as low as 2 months, but also cases up to 18 months. Although most cases are in the range of 5-10 months it varies significantly from one person to another. The estimated length of your treatment will be discussed with you before you decide to start treatment.
Can adults use Invisalign?
Absolutely! The majority of our patients who move forward with Invisalign are over 18 years old. We have even had patients in their 60s choose Invisalign treatment to help create a better smile!
